BioGrid 2025 Annual General Meeting report

BioGrid’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Tuesday 28 April 2026, along with the BioGrid’s Symposium.

Note: This AGM covered the 18-month period 1 July 2024 to 31 December 2025, due to a change in the company’s financial year.

BioGrid Chair, Rob Grenfell, welcomed members to the AGM, after acknowledging the traditional owners of the land on which the meeting was held.After members approved the minutes from the 2024 AGM, Dr Grenfell provided a report on BioGrid’s strategic activities through the past 18 months, which included the signing of a landmark data partnership with the Snow Centre for Immune Health in March 2025, the 4-year extension of Federal Government funding of the ARC Portal effective July 2025, and BioGrid’s 20th Anniversary Celebration in November 2024.

Dr Grenfell acknowledged the contribution of long-standing directors David Polonsky and Chris Arnold, who have both retired from the Board, and welcomed Kylie Maher and BioGrid’s newest director, Nicole Lockwood, whose elections to the Board were approved by members during the meeting.

Following the Chair’s report, BioGrid CEO Maureen Turner spoke to BioGrid’s business achievements and progress. Ms Turner talked in more detail about the significance of the establishment of the BioGrid-Aridhia Digital Research Environment (DRE) platform, a secure cloud-based environment that will enable the researchers to securely access and collaborate on patient samples and associated research data, all from a single, secure hub.

Ms Turner then discussed the technology upgrades that BioGrid has implemented during the 18-month reporting period, such as transitioning business operations to the cloud with Microsoft Azure and Office 365, implementing LinXmart, world-class record linking software that provides secure and sophisticated ISO 27001 certified encrypted data linkage.

Following BioGrid’s 20th Anniversary Celebration in November 2024, the company’s marketing activity has been boosted by a review and refresh of BioGrid’s Brand Voice, to better reflect the market position BioGrid currently holds and its strategic direction. Ms Turner advised that this important work is currently being rolled out through BioGrid’s communication channels.

Finally, Ms Turner welcomed RMIT University as BioGrid’s newest member.

Following the CEO’s report, Kylie Maher, Chair of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, presented the Financial Statements and Reports for the18 months ended 31 December 2025. The change to a calendar year reporting period to align with reporting cadence of BioGrid’s members and funders was approved by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and the BioGrid Board.

BioGrid reported a surplus of $13,799 and healthy revenue growth of 24%, with committed contracted revenue of $4.53m for 2026 (representing 88.5% of BioGrid’s budget). BioGrid maintains a continued focus on disciplined financial management and effective utilisation of the Company’s infrastructure and service platforms.
