Members

Together, we're building a stronger research ecosystem

BioGrid’s members help shape, support, and strengthen secure data-driven research across Australia.

We are a member-led collaboration

BioGrid operates on behalf of its member institutions, bringing together health services, universities, research institutes, and other eligible organisations through a shared model for secure, collaborative research independent of government and the corporate sector.

Each member institution is represented through the Member Management Committee, ensuring BioGrid remains responsive to the needs of Australia's research community.

Why become a member?

Membership connects organisations into a trusted national collaboration supporting secure, governed health and medical research.

As a member, your organisation gains access to:

  • A connected national research network
  • BioGrid's federated data platform
  • Established governance frameworks
  • Advanced data linkage and integration
  • Research technology and data services
  • Expert support

This keeps the focus on the value of membership while still reflecting BioGrid's unique capabilities. The more detailed technical information can then live on the individual capability pages, where users expect that level of depth.

Contributing data as a member

Membership gives organisations a supported pathway to connect clinical, research, or registry data to BioGrid and make it available for approved collaborative research.

Importantly, contributing data does not mean giving up control. Member institutions retain governance and custodial oversight of their data, while BioGrid provides the infrastructure and expertise needed to connect, prepare, and manage it securely.

Your organisation retains control

Data remains governed by the institution and its data custodians, who determine how and when it can be used.

BioGrid connects and prepares the data

BioGrid supports extraction, integration, linkage, and ongoing data management across a range of systems and data sources.

Approved researchers gain access

Researchers can only access data through agreed ethics, governance, and study-specific approval pathways.

BioGrid supports member institutions throughout the process, from initial assessment and technical integration through to governed research access.
